HEY, I'M

Yash Agrahari

Software Engineer, Backend

Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India

Backend engineer building Node.js and PostgreSQL services. From a WebSocket-based job-processing backend to a large-file data ingestion pipeline, I handle the full cycle: design, testing, Docker, and CI/CD deployment.

  • Built and maintained the Node.js backend for BaQLabs, a strategy backtesting platform that accepts user-submitted strategies with historical datasets, dispatches them to an execution engine over WebSockets, and tracks each job's status in PostgreSQL.
  • Fixed unreliable engine connections by adding auto-reconnect, retries with backoff, and job-state reconciliation, reducing stuck backtest jobs from roughly 5 to 10 per week requiring manual cleanup to near zero.
  • Built the market-data ingestion pipeline with schema validation and chunked streaming, loading files of 1M+ rows without memory spikes or data loss and rejecting malformed files before they reach the database.
  • Replaced manual deployments with Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD (lint, type check, tests on every PR), cutting deploy time by roughly 70% from 30 minutes to under 10 minutes and reducing regressions reaching production.
  • Added structured logging and clear error codes per job stage, cutting time to diagnose failed backtests from roughly 1 hour to 15 minutes.
  • Wrote unit and integration tests for ingestion and job handling (roughly 70% coverage on core modules) and defined the WebSocket message contract used by the frontend for live backtest streaming.
  • Used Cursor and Claude for code generation, debugging, and refactoring to speed up delivery.

  • Built and shipped 10+ RESTful APIs in Django for an IPO management platform, enabling the frontend and internal services to reliably create, update and query investor and issuer data.
  • Designed PostgreSQL schemas and validated each API workflow in Postman before merging, catching data-integrity issues early and reducing rework after integration.

Improve

I start by understanding the problem, research possible solutions, and choose the technology based on what the project actually needs. I like writing the code myself, while using AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to speed up implementation. I review and take responsibility for the code before shipping it.
